Online video advertising

When making the videos that would be used on social media accounts, I decided to look back on what knowledge I’d gained from previous video experiments, along with looking at other social media advertisements. While most adverts on sites like Instagram don’t move, The placement of logos and such remain the same. These adverts could also go beyond general social media accounts and could be showcased on other sites.

When it comes to the stock footage used itself, I’ve decided to use a city video provided by my tutor from a previous class, as it is a very good background video for using, along with it being a city, a common place for taxis. If this was to go further, the footage itself could be from the respective town or city that Cab-E Online would be situated.

After creating the videos, I am fairly happy with what I made, although it may be simplistic. Of course, each part of it was chosen for its own specific reasons. The videos themselves were made on Adobe After Effects.

The logo itself remains the same. In both videos it goes in the middle of the video, staying there for a few seconds in before becoming smaller and moving to the corner. While in the second video it remains in the centre the whole time. I made this choice as I believe the logo is the most important part of the adverts, as people will either see it and become interested. Or they will simply read it and keep the name in mind for if they need a taxi.

When it comes to the phrase, “do you want to go anywhere any time?” and “Do you want to get anywhere, anytime you want?” I thought a simple statement like that would be a good phrase for an ad. The font itself is Aptly, as I believe it is another font that fits my theming while being fairly formal. Along with that, it fits the ad format the most compared to other fonts used. While the company doesn’t have a key catchphrase, I believe these two questions and any future ones in the same vein of sentence, would do the job very well.

Lastly, The button itself was designed like most other advertisements and the website, with the punk style in mind. Unlike the past adverts, the text itself fits more into the space given, and the button itself doesn’t cover up a lot of the advert. This is so it can fulfil its job without taking away from any other element.

Overall, I believe I fulfilled the task given to a great level, and am personally proud of what I made. If I was to make more adverts, I would experiment more with After Effects and also lean into other inspirations. This could even lead to using stuff from outside the taxi sphere that may benefit the adverts.
