After the creation of the concept sketches, I decided to make a storyboard of how the animation would play out. One storyboard was made for the first conceptual design, involving the machine combined with flesh creation. This was before that idea was fully conceptualised, as I believed that may give a good idea on what the design should look like. The second storyboard was made after the finalisation of the second designs.

This first storyboard was made to represent the journey through a vent of a machine, before revealing its outwards design. Beginning with a circular object, a gem of some variety, the travel would slowly reveal the mechanical interior covered in flesh that would pulsate, almost as if an infection was in the machine. It would end as it goes through the bars of the vent, slowly revealing the abomination of a machine as the camera panned backwards. Once enough of the machine was revealed, it would come to a halt, holding on the image of this creation, before ending.
Overall, This idea was not the best overall. While the imagery at the end could be satisfying, the journey from beginning to end would either be dull, or incredibly hard to model. Along with this, any metamorphosis or transition would be hard to add, or a stretch of the imagination. Considering a metamorphosis is a main part of this animation, it would be preferred if it was more noticeable or an obvious main part of the animation. Despite this, I decided to go ahead with the concept sketch, as maybe that would reveal something I had not thought of or perhaps an easier animation idea.
However, after discussions with fellow students and hearing my peers own animation ideas, I had a revelation. This required completely scrapping the idea at hand and starting again. Despite this, I would not regret my choices.

For this new idea, the start remains the same, starting on a jewel, in this case it would be a ruby. Zooming out however would reveal the shape of on eyeball instead of the previous idea of a vent. As the camera zoomed further backwards, the background would reveal pistons, working at a rhythmic pace. Once it had travelled enough outwards, the eye would proceed to look around, showcasing its awareness of the surroundings and its constant surveillance, instead of simply being a set piece. It would end by zooming in on the eye once more, but at a very fast pace, before cutting to black.
This idea bore more fruit than the last. The transition/metamorphosis was more obvious, as it began with an item of luxury, in this case being a ruby, before revealing that it was instead the pupil of an eye. Along with this, the zooming out serves a better purpose as it is revealing the surroundings, instead of travelling. Overall, this new idea was the correct way to move forward, compared to its predecessor.
